Pupil Premium & Other Government Grants
BackUnderstanding the Pupil Premium at St Claudine’s Catholic School For Girls
We believe in supporting every student's potential, and the Pupil Premium plays a significant role in achieving this goal. Below, you will find information about what the Pupil Premium is, its purpose, and how it benefits your child.
What is the Pupil Premium?
The Pupil Premium is a government grant provided to schools to help close the educational attainment gap between disadvantaged pupils and their peers. It also supports pupils with parents in the armed forces (known as the 'service premium').
Who is Eligible?
The Pupil Premium is available for students who meet specific eligibility criteria, which include:
- Pupils eligible for free school meals (FSM) at any point in the last six years
- Looked-after children (LAC)
- Children who have ceased to be looked after by a local authority
- Pupils from families with parents in the armed forces
How Much Funding Does the School Receive?
The amount of Pupil Premium funding varies based on the number of eligible pupils and their specific circumstances. This funding is allocated annually, based on data collected from school censuses in October and January. The amount received this year is included in the statement below.
How is the Funding Used?
At St Claudine’s Catholic School For Girls, we use the Pupil Premium to:
- Enhance Teaching Quality: Investing in high-quality teaching, professional development, and additional resources to support learning.
- Provide Targeted Academic Support: Offering one-to-one or small group tutoring, literacy and numeracy interventions, and tailored support for pupils with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND).
- Support Wider Strategies: Addressing social, emotional, and behavioural needs, improving attendance, and providing extracurricular activities such as sports and arts.
Reporting and Accountability
Each year, we publish a Pupil Premium Strategy Statement on our website by 31 December. This statement outlines how the funding is spent and the impact it has on pupil outcomes. We are committed to transparency and accountability in our use of the Pupil Premium, ensuring it reaches those who need it most.
How Can Parents Get Involved?
We encourage parents to stay informed about the Pupil Premium and engage with school activities. If your child is eligible, please ensure the school has up-to-date information regarding your circumstances, as this helps us secure the funding needed to support their education.
