British Values

At St. Claudine’s Catholic School for Girls, the promotion of British Values is an integral part
of our Catholic mission and educational vision. We believe that these values are rooted in
the Christian principles of human dignity, justice, compassion and the common good, which
are reflected in both Catholic Social Teaching and the charism of St. Claudine Thévenet.

The Government defines British Values as:
  • Democracy
  • The Rule of Law
  • Individual Liberty
  • Mutual Respect
  • Tolerance of Those of Different Faiths and Beliefs
At St. Claudine's these values are promoted within the context of our Catholic identity and
Gospel values. Our mission is not only to enable students to achieve academic excellence
but also to grow spiritually, morally, socially and culturally. Through our Catholic ethos,
Ignatian Pedagogy and commitment to Catholic Social Teaching, we encourage students to
become young women of faith, conscience and action who make a positive difference in the
world.

British Values are not taught in isolation; they are lived and experienced through the culture
of our school community, our curriculum, our relationships and our enrichment
opportunities. We encourage students to reflect critically, engage respectfully with others
and recognise their responsibility to contribute to the common good.
